What It Means to Be a NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador

A NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador is a super role model for social responsibility, mental health and compassion—in its truest and highest form. Being true to yourself and others, nurturing the whole human being; physically, mentally and emotionally whether you’re an athlete, a volunteer or a local leader. Your social competence is highly valued and appreciated, whether it is caring for your siblings, doing chores in the household, caring for others or simply doing the right thing! Things that occupy most of your spare time and could potentially take you away from getting a job making your own money.

A super role model leads by example, with integrity, honesty, and a sense of responsibility that reaches beyond oneself and into community. It means living a healthy lifestyle, communicating with kindness, and carrying yourself with quiet sophistication. It means being a genuine good person—wherever you are, and at every stage of life. From 7 years old to 97, every person has the opportunity to shine their own light within their local community. 

Being a NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador is also about manners. We believe that manners make the woman, and manners make the man. How we treat one another leaves a lasting impression. Whether it is greeting a teacher/coach with respect, being quiet in the classroom, honoring a grandparent with gratitude for their legacy, greeting people with eye contact and high awareness, or offering a smile to a new friend—we lead with grace, humility, and proper etiquette. These gestures matter. They reflect who we are and what we stand for.

A Commitment to Community

Every NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador makes a personal pledge:

  • I will be a positive role model within the group and the local area I represent, and I will contribute to creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone—both physically and digitally.

  • I will pay attention to how we treat each other and keep an extra eye out for those who may feel left out.

  • I will immediately report to a responsible adult if I become aware of bullying, snitching, exclusion, or other rule violations.

  • I take a clear and active stand AGAINST drugs and other intoxicating substances.

  • I want to help ensure that my area is a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging, safety, and respect—regardless of background, gender, skill level, financial situation, home life or personal challenges. 

This pledge is a daily practice of building trust, loyalty and accountability.

Whether you are a child learning to look up to others, a young athlete becoming a role model yourself, or an adult guiding the next generation—being a NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador means you are part of a movement. A movement for compassion, equality, inclusion, and belonging in sport and in society.

The NextGen Neighbor Network exists to remind us of this truth: that the power of sport goes beyond the game. It’s about the super role models who carry its values forward—on the court, in the classroom, at home, and in everyday life.

That is what it means to be a NextGen Neighbor Network Ambassador. No matter your age, no matter your title—it is about social competence, hard work and living with integrity, caring with compassion, and leading with the example of a super role model.
