NextGen Neighbor Network Is Proud To Announce Its Sponsorship Of Bry Deg Si Nei Til Narkotika

At a time with rising youth crime and escalating drug use, Meteva Sport og Helse’s NextGen Neighbor Network (NNN) is proud to amplify a powerful message:

YOUNG PEOPLE INFLUENCE OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE – and POSITIVE PEER LEADERSHIP CHANGES LIVES.

NextGen Neighbor Network is proud to announce its sponsorship of Bry Deg Si Nei Til Narkotika and its “Take care – say no to drugs” project.

This spring, the Russ council at Nordahl Grieg VGS in Bergen made a bold and admirable decision: to say no to drugs and take an active stand against what they call a growing normalization of substance use during the Russ season.

The Bry deg-Russ initiative offers young people a chance to reflect on their values at a critical turning point in their lives. Local projects can include; School-wide lectures, drug-free contracts for individuals and groups, rewards for keeping those commitments, russ clothing and buses proudly showing the Bry deg logo, and positive media coverage to help reshape public perceptions. Thanks to support from the Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Care About You public meetings bring experience-based presentations and practical information to communities nationwide. These meetings are free, local, and aimed at the adults and role models shaping young lives every day.

The Norwegian Drug Prevention Association (Norsk Narkotikaforebyggende Forening) established the Bry Deg Russproject back in 2006 in Haugesund. Together with schools and the police, they saw that this had a very positive impact on the russefeiring (graduation celebrations), both in terms of general behavior and, not least, a reduction in the use of illegal drugs. Over time, the project has been adopted and used by several upper secondary schools across the country, though unfortunately to varying degrees due to financial constraints.

This NextGen Neighbor Network sponsorship will allow for more schools to mirror the courage and commitment we see in youth like the Russ at Nordahl Grieg Upper Secondary School. NNN’s Founder, Louise Mohn, is particularly focused on contributing to elevating the presence of NNF to more schools around the country and seeing more young leaders shine.

“When young leaders take a bold and courageous stand like this, it’s our job as adults to not only back them up, but have their backs as well!” says Louise Mohn

At NNN, we believe in exactly that. Integrity isn't just thought, it's modeled. Respect isn't just encouraged, it's lived. And compassion is more than an idea—it’s a commitment.

NextGen Neighbor Network (NNN) is a collaborative initiative between schools, sports clubs, culture, parents, and local businesses and organizations in a designated local area. Our goal is to create a support system of mutual responsibility and accountability for children and youth, based on existing rules and regulations, Municipal code of conduct and local ordinance. Together, we seek to ADDRESS, REPORT, and REPAIR challenges simultaneously to reduce and diminish repercussions for the children and youth. Each local area may have an appointed and designated “Miljøarbeider” and several ambassadors. We seek to prevent snitching, bullying, violence, drugs and crime. THROUGH OPEN AND RELIABLE DIALOGUE, we aim to prevent issues from escalating across all the various areas children navigate.
