Former Prime Minister Erna Solberg Meets With NextGen Neighbor Network

Today, the NextGen Neighbor Network had the distinct honor of meeting with former Prime Minister Erna Solberg, a true leader and advocate for strengthening our communities and shaping the next generation. Our dialogue centered around the NextGen Neighbor Network initiative and advancing inclusivity and equality in youth sports, along with fostering long-term community collaboration.

At the heart of our initiative and aligned with Erna Solberg’s views is the simple phrase: “I care.” These two words carry the power to unite communities, guide policy, enhance inclusivity within sports, and shape the lives of the next generation.

As we prepare for the Miljøplakaten Sandslihallen event on 28 May 2025, from 17:30 to 19:00, we look forward to formalizing the success of the collaboration between—schools, sports clubs, cultural institutions, parents, and local businesses—to step into a shared commitment. This initiative provides a framework of mutual responsibility and accountability, grounded in the Municipal Code of Conduct and local ordinances.

We aim to address, report, and repair challenges as they arise—proactively and collectively—to reduce and diminish repercussions for the children and youth. Through this, we create safer environments where all young people can thrive. We seek to prevent snitching, bullying, violence, drugs and crime. THROUGH OPEN AND RELIABLE DIALOGUE, we aim to prevent issues from escalating across all the various areas children navigate.

Today’s visit to the International School of Bergen (ISB) exemplified this vision in action. ISB's pillars of Community, Respect, Integrity, and Responsibility were present through the convergence of school, sport, and culture. Their internationally-minded, values-based education is a model of how institutions can serve as inclusive anchors in their communities.

We are grateful to Erna Solberg who champions for community-driven change. Through shared values and unified action, NextGen Neighbor Network stands ready to support a future in which every child is seen, supported, and empowered.

Let this be our call to action:
I care. Do you?
